Armajun Secures First 2000 Days Funding

A NEW CHILD & FAMILY HEALTH SERVICE FOR OUR REGION
On behalf of Armajun Health Service Aboriginal Corporation we are pleased to announce our successful application for the Aboriginal Families First 2000 Days (AFF2000D) initiative. This investment will support the development and implementation of an Armajun-led service for Aboriginal women, children and families across the New England region.

ABORIGINAL FAMILY FIRST 2000 DAYS PROGRAM
The AFF2000D initiative is aligned to Closing the Gap (CTG) and forms part of NSW Government commitment to address Priority Reform Area 2- Building the community controlled sector and key socio-economic outcome (SEO) targets for maternal and child health:
- SEO 2: By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander babies with a healthy birthweight to 91 per cent.
- SEO 4: By 2031, increase the proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children assessed as developmentally on track in all five domains of the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) to 55 per cent.
The program is a combination of the Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Service and Better Strong Foundations in NSW.
AFF2000 DAYS MODEL OF CARE
The initiative will establish a Child and Family Health Service across Armajun sites, integrated with existing programs focused on culturally safe, coordinated care.

It is about walking alongside our mothers, babies, children and families from pregnancy through those critical early years, with care that is culturally safe, connected and built around the needs of each family.
For Armajun, this is an opportunity to strengthen the connection between our clinical services and our community, providing families with earlier support, better coordination and continuity of care. We want our families to know they do not have to navigate the health system alone.
What makes this particularly special is that the service will be led by Armajun, for our communities.
