Edlers Gathering and Art, Music and Media Workshops.
Local Aboriginal Elders are invited to attend the Elders Gathering - Armidale 17-18 October 2017.
The project Looking Through Windows is a multimedia and interactive experience that builds on the prototype film through A 1000 Images held in Bourke in March 2016, it is an extension of the works in this exhibition. It explores digital technologies like virtual reality by making use of raw material captured on a 360 camera and drone camera as tools to preserve and maintain Aboriginal language, history and culture and how these languages, stories and knowledge are passed onto the nextgeneration.
As part of the project we invite Elders and community members to participate in 2-days of workshops - Oral History, Filmmaking, Photography, language & Music, and with the Elders permission their stories will be recorded and included in the exhibition, Looking Through Windows to be held in Armidale on 10 November 2017 and Brewarrina in April 2018 and in Sydney in June 2018. We have held these multimedia workshops in the following communities, the Back to Brewarrina and Old Brewarrina Mission Elders Gathering 21-22 March 2017 in Brewarrina, the Art, Music and Media workshops in Bourke 23-24 May 2017 and the Art and Multimedia workshops, 8-9 June in Armidale. There will also be an Elders Gathering to be held in Armidale in 17-18 October 2017 to finalise community consultations and the data collection stage of the project. A poster for the Elders Gathering in Armidale will be circulated in the coming weeks.
